About Us
- 1979 George Walker Transport formed as a company, mostly involved in shipping freight forwarding and containers.
- 1982 Nigel Jenkinson joined the company from school and with one vehicle, developed the transport and distribution side of the company. Originating in Ilkley the company gained contracts and the business expanded such that it was relocated to Leeds/Bradford Airport Industrial Estate.
- 1986 As the company maintained steady growth and further contracts were gained, Alastair Jenkinson joined the company as operations manager.
- 1989 George Walker Transport relocated to Leeds, where we opened our own workshop to support the growing fleet and workforce.
- 1997 George Walker Transport moved to a facility in Stourton, with on-site workshops and a fully secure warehousing facility all encompassed on a four acre site close to the motorway network.
- 2003 George Walker Transport moved to our current transport facility, a 60,000ft, purpose built distribution centre in Morley. The new site covers 6 acres of land, incorporates 24 loading docks and provides parking for 150 trailers.
- 2004 George Walker Transport becomes Walkers Transport and launches new vehicle livery and stationery.
- 2006 Walkers Transport launched Palletways Manchester service.
- 2007 Walkers Transport launched their Emerald Linq and Euro Linq services.
